Microdiscectomy and fusion or arthoplasty

Arthroplasty is the process of removing some or all of the worn-out discs. It is then replaced with artificial discs. Minimally invasive discectomy is done with the aim of providing long-term pain relief in the back part that may also spread to the legs. At Prime Surgery, our expert team of pain specialists perform lumbar discectomy under local anesthesia. So, patients do not feel pain and discomfort during the procedure.

What happens during
the procedure?

  • At Prime Surgery Center, the pain specialist will diagnose the condition in detail prior to making a surgery plan.
  • The patient is given local anesthesia and then the procedure begins
  • During the procedure, a small incision is made, and the herniated/damaged portion of the intervertebral disc is removed using specialized surgical tools
  • During fusion, two or more vertebrae  are fused together to eliminate motion between them and in arthroplasty, the damaged disc is replaced with an artificial disc
